Who is Gaby?

You can expect a warm, funny, and direct person to be with you in our sessions together. My personal experience as a mother drew me to perinatal mental health, which is my clinical area of expertise. I specialize in reproductive mental health and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS).I am certified by Postpartum Support International and hold an additional title of PMH-C (PSI11261). At Antioch University, I co-created a new certificate track and curriculum in perinatal mental health for future counselors in training.I know first-hand how motherhood is a time of transition and transformation that requires professional support.I bring experience and expertise in birth trauma, NICU experiences, postpartum anxiety and depression, postpartum rage, intrusive thoughts, and grief and loss."It takes a village" is cliched, but true. I'm honored to work with new, expecting, seasoned, adoptive, and foster moms to be part of their village of support.

Counseling survivors of domestic violence is a secondary focus area of mine. For years, I've volunteered at a domestic violence organization and counseled survivors of domestic violence in clinical settings.Trauma underpins my areas of clinical expertise. I am trauma-informed and trained in a processing modality called lifespan integration.I earned my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Antioch University Seattle and am a fully-licensed mental health counselor in Washington State (license number LH61306791).I studied as an undergraduate at the University of Washington. Prior to finding my calling in therapy, I spent my 20s pursuing a career in law and served as a clerk at King County District Court.I live with my husband and three daughters in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. I see clients throughout Washington state virtually.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never been to therapy before, what can I expect?
The beginning of therapy is a little bit like entering a dark room. It takes a while to find the light switch. Once the light is on, we can start opening doors and windows. A prior client once described therapy as, “all the lights turning on.” My role as a therapist is to help you gain further clarity and understanding.
So, am I going to cry the whole time?
Crying is a human release and at times, cathartic. Absolutely cry if you need to! However, I hope I can make you laugh and throw in a few cuss words on occasion. Laughter and an occasional four-letter word can be equally cathartic in my book.
Am I going to be sitting across from someone who just parrots back what I say?
No. I am an attachment-based, relational therapist so I bring myself into sessions. Also, important to note about my clinical style is that it is integrative, and I pull from the following theories: attachment, polyvagal, somatic, and behavioral. I tailor what I can provide in therapy based on your specific needs.
I need coping tools, can you provide them?
I can strategize with you once we’ve established a working relationship. I draw from a mix of behavioral strategies as well as somatic ones to provide relief. Longer-term solutions often involve a mix of trauma processing, medication (sometimes), and an agency for change.
Do you provide collaborative care with other health professionals?
Yes. Count me in as part of the team.
What about referrals and other resources?
Of course.
